Bio – Reverend Bobi Surmick

A 25-year journey has taken me from Hospice RN to the Founder of Spiritual Dimensions Academy. I received a spiritual message nearly 3 years ago while folding socks. I argued for months that at my age I was not the right person for the job.

None of my arguments bought me respite from the returning message, “You are going to create an online school for spiritual seekers.”  The idea seemed great and needed in the current chaos of the world. I recognized how my spiritual growth had changed my life, my relationships, my entire attitude from negative to positive, from lack to abundance. And the truth?  I had known for several years that I was to share the joy of my journey with others.

After being rear-ended by a truck driver in my early 50’s, being a community educator and RN for Hospice was no longer an option.  My kids were in college, my husband traveled around the world for his work, and I was in constant pain, using two canes or a walker to compensate for right leg weakness.  Several neurologists felt that surgery to scrape scar tissue off my spinal cord was the only option, but everything in me screamed no. They recommended a wheelchair.  Another no. Depression set in, I found a new neurologist, and I started talk therapy. I also started searching for alternative options to a life on pain killers.

I first found Reiki.  I was amazed at my very first class to feel the energy moving through my body and out of my hands.  It felt natural, like I had always had the ability but had never been told I could do it.  I was more amazed that each time someone let me practice Reiki on them, I had a little less pain, a little less numbness in myself.  And the volunteer patient felt better too!

I found a local woman teaching spiritual mediumship, then I heard about Rosalyn Bruyere who had been teaching hands on healing since the 70’s.  I studied with her for many years, finished her Crucible Program, did a yearlong study of Shamanic healing, studied Anatomy and Physiology from a Spiritual viewpoint with amazing Rev. Shelby Hammit, and eventually was ordained by Rev. Rosalyn Bruyere as a spiritualist minister.

My husband and I traveled around the USA in a motor home for nearly 20 years after his retirement from the corporate world. One winter in Florida I became a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader, and I am registered as a Certified Somatic Therapist. Everywhere I travel, somehow people find me with physical or spiritual problems that need spiritual energy attention. Rev, Rosalyn once called me ‘her Traveling Eve-Angelist’ and my health continues to improve year after year, healing session after healing session.  I am so blessed.

Through the last 15 years I have taught classes about hands on healing and a variety of spiritual issues.  I am currently honored to be on the Board of The Church of The Angels (TCOTA), a non-denominational Spiritualist Assembly in Chesterland, Ohio.  I long ago quit arguing with the Spirit being I call Gabriel, and with the support and assistance of so many family, friends, healers, mediums and teachers, I am so excited to be finally bringing this message to fruition with the opening of this virtual place for spiritual seekers, Spiritual Dimensions Academy.
